Malt featured in LogoLounge 2023 Trend Report

LogoLounge’s highly anticipated 2023 Logo Trend Report is in, and we were excited to find that Malt’s work for Parisian travel writer Valkyrie was featured as representative of this year’s “NameFills” trend.

The annual report, written by LogoLounge founder Bill Gardner, looks back over the last year, highlighting a variety of aesthetic approaches from logo designers and the trends they have come to represent.

According to Gardner, “Namefills” logos like Valkyrie bring together type and symbol, resulting in a much more effective mash-up than using each on its own.

By blending the symbol and name you avoid any need to consider a lockup as all the critical information is self-contained.

Gardner also encourages designers to embrace AI—a trend he says is here to stay—as a brainstorming tool rather than rejecting or avoiding it. And for those concerned about the negative impact AI might have on the design space, he offers some cheery words of comfort in the form of an anonymous LinkedIn quote:

“Don’t worry about AI stealing your job. To replace graphic designers with AI, clients will need to accurately describe what they want. We’re safe.” - Anon
